The 77th Golden Globe Awards took place last evening and celebs dressed to impress. Globe veterans and newbies came together for an unforgettable display of elevated suiting, daring dresses, and classic Hollywood glamour. For her first Golden Globe win in over 15 years, Renée Zellweger sported a simple, powder blue Armani dress. Kerry Washington stunned with a daring display of skin. Her Altuzarra getup left little to the imagination. Statement sleeves were the highlight of the night as stars like Olivia Colman and Zoey Deutsch took to the carpet in puff and bishop sleeved dresses, respectively. Iris van Herpen is quickly becoming a red carpet favorite. Her 3-D printed gown, worn by newcomer Joey King, was one of the most memorable looks of the night. Finally, it wouldn’t be a red carpet recap without mentioning the ever so stylish Billy Porter. The Pose star wore a white tuxedo jacket and a dramatic full feathery train by Alex Vinash.

We identify the night’s top trends below:

Keyhole Cleavage

Taylor Swift | Sienna Miller | Kat Graham | Salma Hayek

Cutouts were big this year; more specifically keyhole cutouts. Taylor Swift, Sienna Miller, and Kat Graham were all seen sporting triangular keyhole cutouts below the bust. Salma Hayek went for a smaller cutout in the same location.

All About That Sleeve

Olivia Colman | Jodie Comer | Janina Gavankar | Zoey Deutch

The statement sleeve has been one of the most popular styles for the past season. It was only a matter of time before it started appearing on the red carpet. Most popular was the puff sleeve. Olivia Colman, Jodie Comer, Janina Gavankar wore variations of the popular sleeve in bold colors. Zoey Deutch wore a canary yellow Fendi dress with a deep V and elegant bishop sleeves.

Sorbet Sunday

Michelle Williams | Renée Zellweger | Kirsten Dunst | Dakota Fanning

Pastel’s time is coming. More subtle than their neon predecessors, pastel colors are taking over both the runway and the red carpet. Pastel orange, blue, pink, and purple all made an appearance on the red carpet last night. Renée Zellweger marked her return to the Golden Globes with a powder blue Armani dress, while Dakota Fanning opted for a lavender fit for a fairytale.

Lessons in Lingerie

Charlize Theron | Kerry Washington | Cate Blanchett | Gwyneth Paltrow

Underwear is the new outerwear according to Hollywood’s elite. Daring looks ruled the red carpet. Kerry Washington turned heads in a revealing Altuzarra number, while Gwyneth Paltrow embraced her bohemian aesthetic in a sheer Fendi gown with a high neckline and ruffled skirt. Cate Blanchett’s Mary Katrantzou gown featured sculptural yellow sleeves and crystal-embellished bralette.

Velvet Crush

Chris Evans | Rachel Weisz | Glenn Close | Ansel Elgort

Velvet was the material of choice last night as men and women alike opted for textured elegance. Chris Evans and Ansel Elgort represented the men in sophisticated jewel-toned suits. Rachel Weisz and Glenn Close wore conservative silhouettes that highlighted the plush fabric.
